Wrong man was executed in Texas, probe says

This case is a clear example of why eyewitness identification (or misidentification) is flawed. Putting politics on the death penalty aside for a moment, how can our society put someone to death based almost solely on the testimony of a witness sitting in the dark across from this gas station? No video, no DNA, no fingerprints, nothing. How often have we seen innocent people exonerated of crimes they did not commit all because of bad eye witness identification? Knowing what we now know about witness misidentification shouldn’t we require something more?
